Meet the Founders

Surf Cowgirls was born from friendship, the ocean, and a shared belief that women are capable of anything when they feel supported, playful and free. We are Kenzie and Tarah — horse girls, surf girls, adventure girls, two Canadian women who followed the call and ended up in Sayulita. We said yes to a life that felt more alive, and Surf Cowgirls is our way of sharing that feeling with you.

Kenzie

Hi, I'm Kenzie, a Canadian girlie who packed up her life, her surfboard and her boy dog and headed to the beaches of Mexico, searching for something calmer, brighter and happier. I somehow found it in Sayulita. After spending my twenties working in high-pressure startups and large corporations, I reached a point of deep burnout and began a sabbatical that turned into a journey back to myself. I grew up riding horses and, in the last year, has fallen completely in love with surfing. I'm somehow already hanging five, laughing in every set, and constantly in awe of how the ocean teaches me patience, presence and joy.

What lights me up is connection, community and mentorship. I believe in the magic that happens when women support each other, learn together, and celebrate each other’s wins. I can’t wait to welcome you to our little slice of the tropics and show you the Sayulita that captured my heart.

Tarah

Hi, Tarah here, I'm from the Canadian Rockies, a mountain girl at my core and a horse girl at heart. I have lived many lives already, which feels perfectly aligned with being a classic Manifesting Generator. In my past life chapters I have been a competitive biathlete, a chainsaw girl working in a National Park, a broadcasting student, an artist soul, and a world traveler always chasing horses and forming new friendships along the way.

I also run a successful Human Design business, which gives me a unique perspective on people, our patterns, and the ways we can embrace who we truly are. My life experiences have taught me to value authenticity, experience, connection to others, nature and spirit, and most of all, fun. I believe life is meant to be lived with curiousity, courage and a touch of wildness, and I bring that energy into Surf Cowgirls every day.

Together

Together, we created Surf Cowgirls to share what we love most: the ocean, horses, adventure, nature, friendship and the freedom that comes from being truly yourself. The retreat is an invitation to women who want to feel strong in their bodies, peaceful in their minds and wild in their hearts. We want to welcome you into our world, where the days are sun-kissed, the salt water washes everything clean, and laughter is a daily ritual. This is where you slow down, connect, and remember who you are. We can’t wait to meet you!
